FAQ for New Students at Slam Dancing
Everything you need to know before starting your Slam experience
Starting at a new school is a mix of excitement, nerves… and lots of questions.
At Slam Dancing Barcelona, we want your arrival to be smooth, clear, and full of motivation. That’s why we’ve gathered the most common questions from those joining our school for the first time.
1. How do levels and schedules work?
At Slam Dancing, classes are organized by age and experience level so that every student can progress at their own pace and feel comfortable from day one.
- Kids (3–12 years)
- Teens (13–17 years)
- Adults (18+ years)
If you’re unsure about your level, our team will guide you with a trial class or a personalized recommendation.
Schedules are designed so you can train in different styles (Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Commercial, Urban…) according to your availability and goals.
2. What should I bring to class?
It depends on the style you practice, but here are some key points:
-
Mandatory uniform for Kids and Teens in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Urban Dance. You can order it directly at the school — it will be ready for you at reception.
-
Adapted shoes: never wear street shoes in class.
- Ballet → ballet slippers.
- Jazz → jazz shoes or sneakers.
- Contemporary → barefoot or with socks.
- Hip-Hop / Commercial → clean sneakers used only in the studio.
Remember: uniformity helps create cohesion, respect, and a professional image in class.
3. What if I miss a class?
We understand that unexpected things can happen.
If you miss a session, you can make it up the following week by attending another class of the same level (subject to availability).
Missed classes are not deducted from tuition, but we always try to offer an alternative so you can keep progressing.
4. What can I expect during the first weeks?
In your first classes, you’ll discover the rhythm and energy of Slam Dancing:
- You’ll learn the structure of each session and your teacher’s style.
- Your body will start to gain strength, coordination, and body awareness.
- You’ll begin to connect with the community — a diverse group united by the same passion for dance.
Tip: come with an open mind and don’t compare yourself. Everyone starts somewhere, and progress comes with consistency.
5. When and how do I pay the registration fee?
The registration fee is paid once per year (September to June) at the time of enrollment.
If you decide to withdraw and return later, you won’t need to pay again — your registration remains valid for the entire school year.
Tip: if your withdrawal is temporary, you can keep your spot active for up to two months with a maintenance fee (€15).
6. Tips for integrating with confidence
- Don’t be late: if you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you won’t be able to enter the class.
- Respect the space: take care of the facilities and your belongings.
- Silence or turn off your phone: avoid distractions.
- Don’t hesitate to ask questions: our teachers are here to help.
- Share your experience: if you post photos or videos, don’t forget to tag us → @slamdancingbarcelona 💥
