Susie Kellerman

Susie Kellerman is a passionate and creative individual, originally from Detroit, Michigan. She founded Slam Dancing to share the magic of dance with the community and feels fortunate to lead such an amazing team, while also continuing to teach jazz, modern, and tap dance classes. She is also the founder of the Show Your Dance competition and the Jazz·it festival. You can always find her at one of the two dance studios!

My parents say I was born a mover. I started walking at 7 months and I could never stay still! My favorite pastime was choreographing dances at home, listening to cassette tapes, and wearing my cousins’ old dance costumes.

That passion for dance led me to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies (Social Sciences) from the University of Michigan. After graduating, I worked as a dance instructor at the Broadway Dance Center in NYC and also choreographed for Off-Broadway productions.

In addition, I am trained in the Horton Modern Dance Technique, the Giordano Jazz Dance Technique, and I am a certified Hatha Yoga instructor.

I have taught master classes from Hofstra University in New York to cities such as Montevideo, Linz, Menorca, and Tel Aviv, to name a few.

I am passionate about dance and I love sharing it with you.
