Bebeto Cidra
CONTEMPORARY teacher
Bebeto Cidra began his Dance career in various professional companies in Brazil, where he also founded the Bebeto Cidra Cía. de Danza.
In 1990, he moved to Barcelona where he became a member of the Ballet Contemporaneo de Barcelona and a year later he joined Lanònima Imperial as a dancer, teacher and assistant director and choreographer. Simultaneously, he joined the company Els Joglars, teaching physical preparation classes to the actors and creating choreographies for their shows.
In 2005 he decided to give life again to the Bebeto Cidra Cía. in Barcelona, becoming part of the Residence Plan for creators of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, based in Vic.
Some of his most recent productions are: Bach’s Suites, a trilogy (2010), Límits i ocupacions (2010), Invisible (2009), Ritmo and Figuras de una trayectoria artística (2009).
He has also produced several video dance works in collaboration with other great choreographers and performers of the sector.
Throughout his career, he has received public and critical recognition for his choreographies and performances, such as the award to the best choreographer of the XVII Madrid Choreography Festival (2003) or the award for best dancer at the Sunzanne Dellal International Dance Competition in Tel Aviv (1994).
Currently, he teaches Dance in various companies, schools and centers in Catalonia: the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona (intermediate and advanced levels), the Anna Maleras School, Área, Varium, IT Danza Company, the Ramon Soler Dance Center, Lanònima Imperial and Els Joglars.
