Robert Russell
BALLET teacher
Originally from the United States, Robert discovered dance at the age of 15. After
intensive dance training at the Cornish Institute of the Arts in Seattle, he began his
professional career at the age of 19 and danced with various companies and
festivals in the United States and Canada.
In 1992 he was invited to join the Geneva Ballet, where he stayed for six years
dancing for the some of the renowned choreographers in Europe; Mats Ek, Jiri
Kylian, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, among others. In 1998 he started teaching
and at the same time began his studies in psychology. Continuing his career as a
dancer, it was in 2006, he decided to dedicate himself to teaching.
His arrival in Barcelona in 2014 led him to join Varium Danza under the direction of
Ana Sánchez, where he took on the role of director from 2022 to 2024. Since, he has
been devoting himself to the transmission of his knowledge, experience and above
all, love for dance.
